Research – Investment – Finance – Asset Management
From establishment in 2003, Young Group actively shaped the Private Rented Sector (PRS) through research, investment, finance and asset management. The Group’s portfolio management activity spanned the entire investment cycle; from identifying opportunities and financing their acquisition, through to managing the asset, regularly reviewing the performance of the property holdings and advising on strategic direction, to realising returns in the most tax efficient manner.
Young Group was run by accountants and surveyors with international blue-chip experience and received numerous accolades for the innovative and professional approach that it brought to the property sector.
Young Group consultancy clients included Delancey, CapCo, Essential Living, L&G, M&G and Aviva amongst others.
For our private clients, our letting agency, Young London, took care of the day-to-day management of our clients’ tenancies and properties. Lettings and management was something that we were proud to do extremely well – and the reason that Young London received multiple accolades from the likes of The Times, The Sunday Times, Bloomberg, Google and HSBC. We also provided mortgages through Young Finance and a furnishing service through Young Furnishing.
Knowledge was vital to us and our clients. Our PRSupdate.co.uk online information centre provided an up to date snapshot of the Private Rented Sector. Featuring a mix of opinion, market data, research and in-depth articles from impressive guest writers such as Liz Peace, then CEO of the British Property Federation, , Housing and shadow Housing Ministers, (including The Right Honourable Nick Raynsford MP) and Deputy Chairman of TfL, Daniel Moylan, the site was a one-stop resource for all things PRS related.
In addition, through our own quarterly and annual Young Index research, we gauged market sentiment directly by polling PRS investors with residential property holdings. The Young Index findings were made freely available to clients, industry contacts and the press.
In 2011, the Young Group executive team, Neil Young, David Mackenzie, Michael Oakes and Sylvana Young pitched the idea to Delancey and Qatari Diar to set up their own company to operate the 2012 Athletes Village post Olympics as a rental neighbourhood. This was the beginning of Get Living.
Our belief has always been that renting should be a positive experience, providing more time, more space and more choice supported by amazing customer experience. Working initially as consultants, in 2014, the executive team stepped away from Young Group to take on executive roles at Get Living. During this time, Get Living launched its portfolio which grew to over 8,000 homes across London and the UK, rewrote the lettings rule book, picking up numerous awards including Property Week’s Landlord of the Year four out of five years. In 2018 it became a listed £2bn REIT.
In 2020 the executive team returned to YOUNG with an unrivalled set of experience following almost a decade spent launching and leading Get Living.
